OUR MONSTERS HAVE ARRIVED!!!

We have finished making our burger box monsters that open and close their mouths using air pushed through a plastic pipe by a syringe. Some of them were friendly and others were very scary. Here are some pictures of a few of the monsters.

In D&T this term we are learning all about PNEUMATIC SYSTEMS. This means using air to move something. We are making monsters that will open and close their mouths when we push or pull a syringe. We designed our monsters first, and this week began to make them. These 2 photos show some of us starting to make the outside of the monsters. Keep looking out for photos of the finished monsters!!!

In art this half term we are looking at buildings. We have looked at pictures of famous buildings in London and around the world. We have been thinking about the uses of buildings too. Yesterday we looked closely at amazing religious buildings around the world. We saw pictures of a mosque, a hindu temple, a synagogue and a church.

The drawings everyone did were wonderful. Here are 3 great examples by Zana, Jone Yen and Umaima.

In our science and literacy lessons this week we have been learning about LIFE CYCLES and how they can be shown in flow diagrams. This fantastic work by Mai and Alaa shows the life cycle of a butterfly and a frog. They remembered to use arrows and have written explanation captions giving extra information. Well done girls!!

WELL DONE SUPER SPELLERS!!!

We have had a new class record today with an amazing 23 children managing to spell all 10 words correctly. It is so good to see so many children making a fantastic effort and practising at home using their Look, cover, write, check books.

Next week's test is the SAT's spelling test so fingers crossed for more good news!

This week in our maths lesson we have been looking at halves and quarters. We have learnt that when we fold a shape in half, then fold it in half again we get a quarter.

There are 2 halves in a whole shape and 4 quarters in a whole shape.

This work by Iftikar and Brigida records the shapes that they investigated that could be folded into quarters.
